You could always get one of those 'Have a Heart' cages to trap 'em and relocate them if your a squirrel hugger...

I would spray the foliage, and put a white garbage bag over it...
Just during the hottest part of the day; if you can...
That, or else getcha some lattice from the BigBox store and build a shade structure or else something like this...
