RE: Corn
I would like to grow a giant corn. I always grow some boring hybrid sweet corn, so I started growing colorful ones in the last couple of years; Not sure how true to seed they will be after years of cross fertilization in the corn belt.
Bloody butcher
Hopi Blue
Magenta Parch
Supai Red Parch
Triple Play Sweet

RE: Corn
I have seen giant corn growing in someone's front yard. It was a little higher than his gutter, which is probably 8 feet tall. I was amazed when I saw it and wondered how they got it to get so big.

RE: Corn
Bloody butcher gets 8-12 feet tall. I was looking at getting one that can reach 15ft tall.

Here is a pic of my bloody butcher, tallest ones are 10+ feet tall.

RE: Corn
Mantis, that is a funky cob!
I bought some Ruby Red Corn kernels to plant (supposedly very sweet, but with red kernels), but I didn't plant any yet. Probably too late this year. The big part of the blunder was not knowing that you need to have quite a few of them, close together in order to pollinate. Oh well, maybe another year if I can find a location suitable for that much!
