More Bamboo for Texas

Post by Roy »

I had 2 Texans to come by and visit me Monday. One was from Beaumont, Texas and he was impressed by the Bambusa oldhamii he had seen in Florida and he wanted to try some at his home near Beaumont.

The other gentlemen was from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and he was interested in some tropical bamboo that would grow in his area. The only thing I could think of was the post(s) by sannton about wanting B.m. 'A.Karr' for area just north of Dallas.

So I recommended a Bambusa multiplex and the one he liked was Bambusa multiplex 'Goldstripe'. Hopefully it will grow and prosper in this much colder than Florida area of Texas.

Now the Dallas/Ft. Worth area is a huge area and there are a lot of small towns in this metropolitan area and the one the 'Goldstripe' person lives in is Colleyville, Texas. There are only about 20,000 people who live in Colleyville, Texas, but what was so unusual about him living in Colleyville was that one of the other 20,000 people living in Colleyville is my brother. Definitely a small world. What are the odds?

Odds are rigged. Your brother told him about you.

And what's with this only 20,000 people. The whole county I live in doesn't have a population that high.

I think there is more to the odds than meet the eye. Perhaps a mathematician or statistician will step forward. :glasses5:

I live near Colleyville, in Lewisville. I would be interested if he finds any AK bamboo. It is very illusive! It seems like the best thing to do is order it on-line from bamboo specialist.
