Phyllostachys in the cold, cold UK...

Max temp here this summer......25c average 16c, but these plants will grow in these TBH quite low temps, and when you think of our short summer season it's bloody amazing.

Great pics Mark, is the lower one Glauca Yunzhu rather than N. Bory? I find the Glauca much more cold hardy and quicker to splotch - the Bory of the north.

Thanks Brad, the lower one is still uncertain :!: , I'm gonna have a real good look next spring, hopefully the sheaths might prove helpfull by then. The label :twisted: says bissetii but it's not like another one nearby. If I get some decent shoots nest year, perhaps I'm in with a chance...
