Thanks! Finding this grove really knocked my socks off. The owner of the land told me that the bamboo was there when he bought the land 40 years ago. That would suggest the grove could be 50 years old or older. It would be interesting to find out how the henon got there. My suspicion is that it came via Avery Island after the war. It occurred to me that I should contact the History Detectives on PBS to find out how it got there.bambootony wrote:Hello Artie,

Michael is about 5'10". By my rough estimate, that makes the culms next to him about 36 ft. There are larger diameter culms in the interior of the grove.Alan_L wrote:Are there any photos that show how tall those culms are?
