Friend at work picked this up at a used book store.
Published in 2006, it has a lot of nice pictures. I have only flipped through the pages thus far, so can't comment on the text.
I tend to get the majority of my bamboo info from these here interwebs, but a real book is nice to have too.

Several boo books to have that are good and that do not cost a fortune (yet):
The Book of Bamboo by Farrelly
Bamboos by Recht and Wetterwald
Hardy Bamboos, Taming the Dragon by Whittaker
Bamboos for Gardens by Meredith
American Bamboos by Judziewicz
BAMBOO by Austin & Ueda
...and of course:
Ornamental Bamboos by Crompton
Bamboo World is also good, but it is over $200 online now
A Compendium of Chinese Bamboo is also good, but usually over $100 now
Bamboo, Gift of the God's by Lopez is also good but it is getting spendy now (upward of $100)

To the above I would add TEMPERATE BAMBOOS by Michael Bell. Author is from UK so hardiness observations are from that point of view, but the book is still worth having, I think.
