Because of all the growth, I thinned out the clump today. I cut out 12 culms... added manure and fertilizer, then added about 6 bags of mulch. Should be a good growing season. This is the one in my front yard.
I wish I had time to do all the bamboo at the farm the same way. The only one I am really focusing on that much at the farm is the D. Giganteus "Quail" clone.
Should be an exciting growing season this year... I look forward to seeing all the great boo pics. Bring 'em on!!!
I plan on putting out another 15 clumps of B. Lako at the farm. Time to get all the boo still in pots in the ground. Yahoo!!!

Saw first shoots of Bambusa Eutuldoides "viridi vittata" today at the farm... in the ground. Most of the boo was already putting out new growth. Grass is now green as well. All the Bambusa Oldhamii was really looking nice... especially the ones that took a hit last year from too much rain.
All of my Pleioblastus' are shooting. I thought my Pl. viridistriatus was a goner, but it has put up 2 little shoots. Too bad I seem determined to kill it... as I was wheeling some potted plants from the back yard to the front the viridistriatus took a header off the garden cart, and proceeded to eject itself out of it's pot.
Phyllostachys praecox, P. dulcis, and P. aureosulcata "spectabalis" all came up today (P. "spec. "might be three days)
Pseudosasa japonica up for 2 weeks, P. jap. tsutsumiana just today.
Sasamorpha borealis up maybe three weeks.
Sinobambusa tootsik, from seed via marler spence, has been culming and freezing back all winter. loads of culms now. i think this plant is miss-i.d.ed,but time will tell. very cold sensitive. anyone else have this from him? culms very white-hairy.
moso third year seedlings in pots culming like mad. a "banana tree" item. still not positive about these either. lots of red hairs like others shown on this site...large crinkly leaves...very similar to the sinobambus t. seedlings.

The legal issues that will arise when the undead walk the earth are legion, and addressing them all is well beyond what could reasonably be accomplished in this brief Essay. Indeed, a complete treatment of the tax issues alone would require several volumes.

They do come out of the ground like they have been shot out of a cannon.

Isn't it early for the tropicals to begin shooting? I thought that they were later or rainfall/heat driven, not spring warm up?
