I've got 'rubro' growing along the roadside in front of my house. Eventually, it's going to reach the buried electrical line and coax cable. What should I do now, if anything, to keep from having troubles in the future?
Unless we ever have to replace the power line for any reason, I can't think of a reason to worry about it. Coax cable is cheap enough to run a new line from the road if needed.
Is there any need to worry?
what about buried power lines?

How deep are the lines? If they are more than a foot deep, then you probably don't need to worry about it. I have Ph. rubromarginata planted near my property line next to a buried TV cable. I prune the rhizomes a few times in the fall to keep it out of my neighbors' yards. You can do this if you are worried about it.

I don't know how deep the lines are.. is there a standard depth for electrical lines to be buried? My house was built in 1979..
I guess there's no need to worry. I'm just a worrier.

I do not know what the code is where you live but they should be two to three foot deep. Here they are three foot down.
You should be able to ask the power company as to what they should be.
Remember if for some reason (rare) they need to be dug up the power company will just trash what ever you have growing over the power lines. And from my experience any thing with in six feet to either side of the line is history. But as I said power lines rarely go bad them selves only the end connections mess up.
