Rubro shoots after a hail storm

O.K. Lancet, you were yawning at Rubro shoots in another thread, are these a bit more attractive?

Wow, I'm Impressed! Rubro that has been through hail and back.
How big are the newest shoots.........1" or more?

They just broke ground a few days ago and so far nothing is approaching an inch. Last years narrower culms maxed around 15 feet so perhaps these will go 20+. Another part of the grove has been producing larger shoots in prior years but not started yet so perhaps it will be larger/taller than these. I measured a 3rd year Bissetii shoot at around 16 feet today and it is still going up so it too may approach 20 feet this year.

Whoa. I'm green (with red edging) with envy. The hail doesn't even phase them! And the color is ooh-la-la. Classic rubro.
My rubro hasn't even started to shoot yet. Here on the coast everything is slow to wake up. thanks to cooler air. Maybe the torrential rains we've been having will force the shoots to break surface -- like the earthworms are getting forced to come up to escape the flooded ground.
