I was out in Dallas yesterday at the "Coop Tour," a tour of urban homes with chicken coops. One home had a large grove of bamboo that, from a distance, looked much like p. aurea or p. rubro, with lots of tall, straight, 2" x 30' canes in a medium green. But there were no stunted internodes like aurea. The most distinctive feature of this bamboo was the sheath around the shoots. The sheaths around the shoots were uniformly dark, almost wine-colored red/brown.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
What phyllo is this?

Re: What phyllo is this?
The color I saw was deeper plum color, and there was no light-colored tan/beige areas as in the shoot in your photo. And I saw none of aurea's characteristic short internodes at the culm bases. Guess I'll have to go back and take pictures.
