Can someone who has both types please explain to me the difference between viridistriatus and viridistriatus 'Chrysophyllus'? I seem to see conflicting accounts on the web I have plants supposedly of both but currently they all seem to look about the same! Seems that maybe the main difference is supposed to be the coloring of the dark green stripes? Thanks for the help!

Pleioblastus viridistriatus has green and yellow striped leaves. The stripes are very well defined on the leaves.



Pleioblastus viridistriatus 'Chrysophyllus' has mostly solid yellow leaves with maybe some faint, ill defined green striping.

And on one end of a 10 year old patch of the striped form here, the new growth is stripeless suggesting that you probably have both if you have one.

Sun exposure markedly affects coloration. I prefer the electric yellow of full sun, but it bleaches out much quicker in summer. The more shade the greener and they seem to hold fresh color longer for sure.
