Thanks for reading and I appreciate your help!

I was gifted bamboo and would like to know the best way to take care of it. This was growing at a friend's home in Xela, Guatemala (Elevation 2,330 m (7,640 ft)).

I can provide more pictures and info on the climate if needed.

Greetings, I can't ID the plant based on those photos, the thing that catches my attention is the ratio of foliage to root/rhizome mass. It looks like a very small section of root/rhizome relative to the foliage and I would not be surprised if the leaves curl and stay that way. An imbalance there means not able to sustain that much foliage so you may end up having to cut half or more of that away to get back in balance. Give it a good soaking and pot it up if not already. Keep that out of direct sun for several weeks. Keep it watered. If the leaves curl when it has been watered and not in the sun then you need to remove foliage. If the leaves do not curl then you are fine.
