G. maxima/G. pseudoarundinacia var. minor

Naming question.

I picked up what the ABS has listed as G. maxima from Rivers End Nursery when I was visiting Boonut this past weekend.

Rivers End had it named in line with the ABS convention (G. maxima).

Tropical Bamboo has this on their site:

Gigantochloa pseudoarundinacia var. minor

Culms highly variegated with cream colored stripes. This smaller variety of G.pseudoarundinacia was erroneously referred to as G.maxima in Florida (no logical explanation). Correctly identitified by Dr. Elizabeth Widjaja in 2003 (Maxima is a synonym for the LARGE variety). This variety grows to 45' tall. Minimum temperature 28 degrees F.

Soooooooo... is the ABS list just not updated, and I should call it G. pseudoarundinacia var. minor, or should I stick with the ABS naming convention and leave the G. maxima tag on it?
