Note the photo is at night. I think the plastic wrap would cook and suffocate a boo in the full sun. In the sun I would use burlap, cotton. or nursery shade cloth in the sun wrapped with string or rope..
I think I should say With much appreciation, I learned some of this from a bamboo retailer. Also most of the big boo was grown not by me but by some very dedicated and talented people here in Florida.
As a bamboo collector I did not want to compete with any commercial growers and give away any trade secrets I learn from them (not that I know any).I do this Out of respect, and to advance my collecting and learning and I realize they must make a living and be competitive.
With that said,I guess this technique would be shared with any customers wanting to bring home a big boo.
Certainly helps get your newly obtained boo home from the dealer healthy and in one piece.
Dam if I know why millions of home owners go to home depot instead and get your typical plain Jane palm tree or average tree and be just like your neighbors average tree I will never know. I do know: Lack of knowledge. So lets get the word out.
Maybe it is the artist in me to take the path less traveled but I hope all the millions of home owners reading now take there trucks and go buy a boo so the landscapes and commercial properties don't bore me
to death. In the mean time I will continue to dream on....

.....snip....
If you park out in the middle of the sun and leave the bamboo sitting with its wrapping on, then surely it will fry. Even sitting out in the sun with no wrapping on would do some damage. In a moving vehicle, the air force on one end and the vacuum on the other end will pull enough air through the wrapping so as to not cause boiling temps. I've done it many a times and not have any problem with wrapping in plastic.

Yes good point. No way would any heat build up with the wind at 25 to 55 miles per hour being forced through it and in between some of the wrap folds.
The only problem I have had with the wrap is it getting ripped because limbs poke through it being that the wrap is so thin and then the wind starts to peel off the plastic where the limbs poked holes sometimes. I switched to the tougher 3Mil thick 3' X 50' roll of Visqueen from Home Depot they sell for about $5 and its reusable unlike the plastic wrap.
