I just got back into town and noticed that the Melocanna baccifera has put up a couple of shoots.

Okay, so it is inside and in a pot, but I got it as a couple of bare root-balls that were put in a padded box and shipped. This at least shows there is still some life in one of them. :hello1:

Bud,

I wish you thought as much of me as you did your camera. I mean, like sending it off to Tahoe for a vacation. Hopefully your camera will come back with images of all the ski lasses it saw.

I also found leaf buds on:
Phyllostachys nigra (unknown cultivar)

serenityinbamboo,

Hey! I recognize that B. malingensis. Even though it looks as though the freezes have been unkind to the B. malingensis, new shoots are definitely taking off.

Yep, you should recognize and YES definitely the freezes have not been kind. As you can see, even the main shoot she came with has died off. But she is a fighter!!!

Q. tumidissinoda and P. a. "Spectabilis" shooting, cautiously, in S. Oregon. Its been horrible-frosty for a week, so I hid the the wee things. Don't know what's going on under there yet, but dying to know.

Pl. s. "Tsuboi" thinking about shooting- big fat ones. No way it qualifies as a ground cover....

Tonight is supposed to be the last hard frost for our area, Gene. Won't be long now. That spectabilis has been sneaking up for a month.

I sure hope so!

this little visit by jack frost has knocked back the hardy kiwi, ostrich plume fern, and the new shoots that the A. karr, and fernleaf were working on!

That does it! Im building a greenhouse!
