I have some mystery boo. I don't have any idea what it is. I don't know much about bamboo. All I know is that it is a clumper and that it hasn't reached maximum size as evidenced by the new shoot having a wider girth then the rest. Just by looking at pictures I was guessing maybe Bambusa ventricosa or Bambusa oldhamii....but really, I have no idea. I'm new to all this.
I posted the pics on my skydrive so not to bog down the thread. Let me know if there is any issue accessing them.

Look through these 23 pictures and see if you see any similarities to your bamboo. http://tinyurl.com/yw28rm

********** ROY'S BAMBOO LIST
Yep! For me the give away was the photo of the new emerging culm, and it looks distinctly just like Bambusa Vulgaris. They are one of the easiest bamboos to propagate from simple culm cuttings.
I'm with Mike on this one. The branches growing perpendicular to the culm like that look like B. Vulgaris as well. Nice free bamboo! It will no doubt get bigger. It will arch a bit as well. You have officially been infected with "the boo bug". Before long your yard will look like a jungle. You'll see. It happens to most of us.
