My flexiosas are around 12ft, they are pretty vigorous, but not as strong as bissete or decora. They don't have as much light as they should have. The culms seem to be cold hardy below 0 d farenhight, The leaves get beat up around 10 d. as I recall. This puts the flexiosa in the same hardyness level as decora and dulcis, at least in my area.
If I just wanted one "green Phylostachys" for utilitarian screening, I would choose bissette

RE: Looking for absolute hardiest bamboo
It's interesting to hear others' results with the "same" plants in different climates. As with many of my green Phyllostachys, I always look at them with a doubtful eye as to their true identities. My flexuosa could well be another species. It's easier to tell what it is not: heteroclada, 'Decora,' bissetii, aureosulcata, etc.
PS. I haven't seen posts from Roy lately. Is he on vacation?

My interests have been elsewhere for about 3 months doing things I shouldn't be doing.Thuja wrote:It's interesting to hear others' results with the "same" plants in different climates.
