Location: We are less than one hour south of downtown Houston. We are located in Wild Peach, Texas located half way between Brazoria and West Columbia. Exit hwy 36 onto County Road 354. Take County Road 353 west . Go approximately 2.4 miles. We are on the left.

Any chance these were taken at Akaka Falls?
I do not remember any green bamboo other than the large ones down the road at Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden.

You are correct. One would think that there was some a PeePee Falls too, but no luck.
BTW, Pee/pee /falee is a real place, otherwise known as the Boiling Pots/
If you take Hwy 130 to the volcano coast, there are some large groves as well.

Those are the 2 bamboo you'll most likely run across in Hawai'i, BvV and S. tootsik, although the S. tootsik exceeds the description so much that it may be a unique form.
