Alright, is this an alien shoot from mars or what??

Saw this shoot coming up a few days ago, then for some reason the shoot is sending up multiple shoots of its' own. I have only had running bamboo for a few years and maybe this is normal, but not to me. It is a shoot from a section of the boo that I have enlisted your help for the past few years trying to identify... so once again, I ask for the help of all the wise ones




I realize these are not the best photos, but I didn't realize until dark, so I will get better photo tomorrow. I just couldn't wait to figure out what it is.

nope, not an alien shoot... that happens when the tip of the shoot is damaged somehow. what you are seeing are the branch buds trying to make up for the tip not growing.

I have the same thing happening with a Bashania fargesii shoot from last fall that I thought died over winter (it looked dead). But it's doing this too. I suspected it was branches, but at least one of them looked too big. Thanks for confirming what I though.
