Under the heading of 'it figures...' this happened on a culm that is one of about 7 that I was planning on leaving in an area where I had culled the rest of the grove - just wanted a few for visual interest. To dig this one, I'll have to make it a 3-culm clump dig so there goes the visual impact aspect, but I think I will dig it out and keep it from winters grasp long enough to see if it holds. Brian's did hold until it was top killed, don't know if that rhizome produced any more of them. We have not heard from him here in months - Mr. Lawrence, are you out there?
Well is does happen that on occasion they stabilize, that's how we got Vivax 'H Inversa' and such. A lot of Vivax aureocaulis seems more stable these days as divisions are made from the yellow. One never knows, isolate wait isolate and so on.
