Large field divisions

Post by Van-isle-bamboo »

Hey fellow bamboo enthusiasts. I just planted some really nice field divisions from a friend of mines phyllostachs glauca grove. They were carefully dug out with a backhoe because the size was really almost unmanageable to man power alone. I just wanted to ask and see from other people's experiences what is the chance of the shoots this year being the same size as the current culm size? The largest culm is about 1.5" and I took rhizome/ root balls that I almost could t move off my truck LOL. Does anyone have any suggestions for continued growth?

Greetings and welcome...eye would be surprised if you do not have some similar size shoots this year, then perhaps a downsize next year, followed by nice upsize the year after that.

Ok well that sounds good. I've also grabbed a large field division of the N. Boryana and there was a rhizome that came with it about 8' long that branched off in three seperate places too. The culms are a little over a inch right now so there's a lot of growing up to do with them too.
