Hi Booking, tis a stunning plant, but bloody fussy, doesn't like it too hot--leaf curls at the drop of a hat, but hates frost too..........



Well the first one planted here is dead , but never mind I planted another in a better spot, in fact I've planted a few in different spots just in case...

The requirements to grow this are pretty extreme but if you can it looks amazing

Would you say this has the same heat tolerance as Thamnocalamus crass Merlyn? My plant was just getting ready to leaf out when the heatwave 100F caused the new culms to wilt and die. It was in full shade but 2weeks of heat made it a unhappy Thamnocalamus..

I'd say it's more heat tolerant than the Th. but can't say for sure. All I can say is that #4 is looking better here after our recent heat, it dose curl it's leaves but they soon open up without damage
