Japonica has been a disappointment for me but Ps. Viridula is anything but. It has been more vigorous and hardier, plus I think it is much more attractive - think Japonica but with 3 branches at the nodes instead of 1. This one has hit around 3 meters in 3 years whereas Japonica in a couple of different site conditions is only around 1 meter in 4 years and top kills every year while this guy suffers mainly leafburn. Too early to say for sure how hardy but several more degrees than Japonica.

I'll sketch that down for my 2007 boo act. Get ready, hardy boo is on the move.
