These are the photos we just took in the dark, tripping over sprinklers, etc. Being a novice I was thinking the leaves would tell the story but in these photos it is obvious that the ten bamboo are VERY different from the two bamboo and the two bamboo looks like it is probably AK. The first photo is of the bamboo I have two of. The clums are straight. The second photo is the one I have ten of and the clums are knobby.
Late night bamboo photo romps? You sir are truly hardcore.

I typed clums instead of culms, but I am sure you all know what I meant. I hope we can identify these guys cause they have only been in the ground for about 2 weeks or so.
Well, I was pretty excited when they said they had 10 AK so we got them all even though a couple of them looked sort of pitiful. I will try to get a better photo in the light but ten of our twelve are the photo with the lumpy, bumpy culms.

Your photos are good enough. I really am sorry (since I am going through an ID problem with a couple of my plants), but there is no way that the "lumpy, bumpy" culms are AK.
In the light of day it is very apparent that the ten bamboo are all the same and probably the Buddha Belly bamboo unless anyone has any other ideas. I will call the nursery and talk to them about the problem. My biggest irritations are that they are all planted and the mulch is in and also the BB is only good down to about 21 degrees while the AK is good much lower. Oh yeah, also the BB probably grows twice as tall.

Sandy
Sandy,
It's hard to tell from your current pictures, but perhaps it's Bambusa multiples 'Golden Goddess' you have and not "Golden" as in Phyllostachys aurea. Some additional pictures certainly would help.
EDIT: I didn't realize there was another page. I'll check out your pictures also.

Sandy,
You're right. The height and cold tolerance is a big difference.
If I sound a little confused, I am. Do you have 12 plants, 10 of which are "Buddha Belly" and 2 others that look like the one below? Which looks like some form of Bambusa multiplex to me.

OK. Then I'm still confused. I have "Sandy" in my mind as female. Is "Sandy" a male? I've got to get things straight in my head.

In this case Sandy is a woman. Reminds me of Flipper where Sandy was the teenage boy.
I just thought it would be good to be able to tell the nursery that they sold me ? for AK and what can we do about it. Has anyone else had this happen? Actually, I think it was the grower who mislabeled the plant because the nursery probably doesn't know anymore about bamboo than I do although after researching for 2-3 months I may know more. At least I realized there was a problem. I do have ten of the wrong plant brought from one nursery and two of what appears to be AK from another nursery.

Sandy,
I'm sure a lot of people on this forum have bought bamboo under another name than what it actually was. ('')
What name are you calling this one?
